Good breakfast at the Lodge. The mountains are incredible; they had an extra three inches of snow on this morning as it settled last night. Poor Lady was covered with snow. We had sun nearly all day.
Many stops on the way to the Ice Fields. www.explorerockies.com/columbia-icefield/ - After debating our bravery we decided to go ahead and take the ride onto the glacier. Morgan, I thought of you today, as it reminded me of the Hummer ride. It was strange to be on a couple of hundred feet of ice. It wasn’t scary at all or maybe I have become very brave!
On the drive back we saw many beautiful turquoise lakes and hiked in the snow to see a very dark blue lake, two black bears along the road side, and two elk running through a shallow lake.
Spiral Tunnel Overlook was exciting as we saw a train go through a tunnel into the mountain, come out through a tunnel higher up and then pass in front of us on another line while the back end of the train was still going into the first tunnel! Fun to watch.
Dinner at a diner and then hot chocolate looking at Lake Louise. Its ten o’clock and still not dark, but its bedtime. Calgary tomorrow night after Minnewanka Loop as we are leaving here tomorrow.
